Our Story

Background

The Association was incorporated in 1988 by wives of professional golfers on the PGA TOUR. With PGA TOUR events serving as a major platform for charity, the wives found themselves in a unique position to be an effective source of funds and support for the charities and the children they benefit. Since its inception, the Association has expanded its membership to include Korn Ferry Tour wives, significant others of both the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour, and individuals and companies who support the Association’s charitable endeavors. The PGA TOUR Wives Association has given back to our golfing communities and child-related charities through volunteerism and over $5,000,000 in contributions. In addition to fundraising, members participate in Volunteer Service Projects, performing a myriad of services in communities where tournaments are held.

Fundraisers

The Association conducts fundraising events throughout the year, which are critical to supporting our mission of helping needy children and their families around the country. Our most popular fundraiser each year is the PGA TOUR Wives Golf Classic. This is a nine-hole tournament where our members compete in a friendly competition, while their PGA TOUR husbands or significant others serve as their caddies. The inaugural PGA TOUR Wives Golf Classic was hosted in 1987 and continues to be a significant source of charitable dollars.

Charity Recipients

The recipients of funds raised by the Association are scattered across the country. In addition to substantial annual contributions to a host of charitable organizations, the Association also responds quickly and effectively to emergency situations, including hurricane and flood relief and other natural disasters.

While the membership of the Association varies from year to year, its commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in need stands uniform and strong. The wonderful and dedicated members of the Association, past and present, have reached deep into their resources to balance the demands of family, work, and travel and have given generously of themselves to realize their ideals.

PGA TOUR Wives Association donates funds to IRS designated 501c3 charitable organizations that provide services to children and their families. Distributions are made to charities in tournament communities where fundraising events are conducted, to charities where our members work as volunteers and to organizations and programs supported by the membership.
